RuPaul's Drag Race Season 13 Cast Announced & New Season Premiere Date

World of Wonder, the producers of the hit award winning reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race have announced the new cast and premiere date for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13. The announcement came on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 via @RuPaul’s Drag Race social media channels.

The new cast features 13 new queens from across the United States who will get the chance to showcase their uniqueness, nerve and talent to the legendary RuPaul in hopes to becoming America’s Next Drag Superstar.

In a year that has halted most drag shows and pageants, 13 queens quietly traveled, quarantined and filmed the season all during a global pandemic.

“Any other season that comes behind us, you’re going to have to step your p---y up,” said newly cast member Tamisha Iman to Entertainment Weekly.

This season featured an Arizona queen originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin but now residing in Phoenix, Arizona. Joey Jay of the award winning 4Some Revue is one of the 13 queens casted on the season.

“I want [my presence to say], “Hey sissies, it gets better. Slay in your Ariana Grande sweatshirts when you cross the street,” Jay explained to Entertainment Weekly “It’s 2020, you’re 12 years old, it’s going to be so good 10 years from now. Keep going!”

Season 13 also brings a new first to the Emmy Award winning show with their first transgender contestant Gottmik. A contestant who uses the pronouns he out of drag and she in drag is the first trans man to compete on a regular season since Peppermint in Season 9.

“I was always good at makeup, and if I went out in drag, it was the only time people thought I was a guy. I was living for it, like, I love this! I wouldn’t go out unless I was in head to toe drag,” he remembers. “Even though I’m cinched and lashed and gorge, I’m feminine, but it’s this weird alien thing, I don’t want to look too pretty. Once I got more comfortable with myself out of drag, my drag character was able to actually be my art, and that’s when I started taking it seriously.” (Entertainment Weekly Quote)
