It’s the Drag Superbowl! The RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12 Finale came to us Digitally on VH1 on Friday, May 29, 2020.
The night began with a digital introduction of all cast members from this season with the exception of Sherry Pie (whom we were aware would not be a part of the Finale). The finale consists of fan interaction virtually, a 3-part lip sync, a new Miss Congeniality and the crowning of America’s Next Drag Superstar.
RuPaul was joined by lady boys Ross Matthews, Michelle Visage and Carson Kressley all whom joined virtually from their home. RuPaul took a closer look with each of the Top 3 finalist to review the season and have surprise messages from the contestant’s family and friends.
The first lip sync was “The Close Up” which showcased the girls and just their lips to the song “Bring Back My Girls” from RuPaul. The next Lip Sync was the “At Home Lip Sync” which was a song of choice production produced by each contestant. Crystal Methoed was up first with “I’m Like A Bird”, GiGi Goode took us back with Aha “Take me home” and Jaida danced throughout her living room with Ciara “Get Up”
After the judges critiques it was determined that the top 2 finalists were, all 3.
Prior to the winner being announced Nina West crashed the party which appeared to be filmed during the reunion to announce this year’s Miss Congeniality, and the winner is Heide N Closet. But thanks to Pantene all winners were given a $2k tip with Heide winning the $10k Cash Prize.
The Top 3 squared off in a final lip sync to “Survivor” and it was declared that Jaida Essence Hall was America’s Next Drag Superstar.
